Video Identity
Definition
A Video Identity (Video channel) is an optional content-container public identity for a video-first channel — series, education, or creator-forward presence under its own name.
Account is private. Identity is public. Reputation belongs to the identity.
Purpose
To give creators a channel layer when video is the main public story, without requiring every occasional video to live only here.
Why it exists
A channel is not the same as Personal updates or a Business page. When video is the primary public brand, it deserves its own identity. Occasional videos may still appear on other layers; Video Identity is for channel-scale presence.
Who it is for
- Creators who want a video-first public brand or show
Typical use cases
- Education channel
- Local documentary series
- Creator-forward video show
How it works
Added as identity_type = video under an Account. Media hubs for this layer present the channel. It is optional — not the only place video may exist on the platform.
Examples
- An education channel under its own Video Identity
- A local documentary series with a dedicated channel page
What belongs here
- Channel name, video-first bio, topics, creator links and media hubs for the channel
What doesn’t belong here
- Forcing every one-off personal video into a channel identity
- Replacing Business or Professional when those are the real speakers
