Professional Identity
Definition
A Professional Identity is the public layer for a person acting in a professional role — counselor, mechanic, consultant, coach, writer, developer, or other specialist — distinct from private life and from a company entity.
Account is private. Identity is public. Reputation belongs to the identity.
Purpose
To present professional work and reputation without mixing them into a Personal page or requiring a full Business Identity when the speaker is still the individual.
Why it exists
A profession is not the same as private life. Clients and peers need a clear professional voice. That voice is also not automatically a company: many professionals work as individuals before or without a separate business entity page.
Who it is for
- Independent professionals and specialists
- People who offer services under their own name
Typical use cases
- Freelancer
- Lawyer
- Mechanic
- Electrician
- Doctor
- Architect
- Software developer
- Consultant or coach
How it works
Managed under the same Account as Personal. Content and reputation for professional work attach to this identity when it is active.
Examples
- A consultant’s public professional page separate from Personal
- A tradesperson’s service presence before or beside a Business Identity
What belongs here
- Professional bio, services narrative, professional hubs and links
What doesn’t belong here
- Family photos and private diaries (use Personal Identity)
- Full company locations, multi-employee hiring boards (use Business Identity when the entity is the company)
