Privacy Philosophy (Draft)
Working Draft v0.1 — CLOSED
Why does privacy exist on NoFakeBiz?
Pattern: Philosophy → Explained (humans) → Policy (legal). Upstream: Registration Philosophy v0.2 closed.
1. Purpose
Privacy exists so membership data collected for accountable, local, trustworthy public life is handled with restraint, clarity, and respect — and so that collecting information is never confused with publishing it or exploiting it.
- Registration collects serious data for institutional reasons
- Members must understand what happens to that data
- Trust forbids treating membership data as an ad warehouse or KYC theater
- Collect ≠ publish — privacy protects that boundary
Privacy does not exist to hide wrongdoing, to make anonymity the product, or to replace Verification with secrecy.
Privacy protects people. It does not protect false claims.
2. What privacy is
Principles and practices for how NoFakeBiz holds, uses, limits, and eventually releases or deletes membership and identity-related data.
Given that we asked for these fields, how do we treat them with integrity?
3. What privacy is not
| Refusal | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not “we collect nothing” | We collect defined membership data; privacy governs how. |
| Not total anonymity as the product | Built for accountable public presence. |
| Not a substitute for Verification | Privacy ≠ KYC; privacy ≠ “verified.” |
| Not permission to sell dossiers | Membership data is not sold as an identity product. |
| Not “hidden = unaccountable” | Hiding street publicly ≠ no internal membership record. |
| Not only a legal PDF | Philosophy + Explained for humans; Policy for law. |
4. Principles
- Purpose limitation
- Collect ≠ publish
- Minimum necessary retention
- Clarity (Privacy Explained)
- Member control where possible
- Identity-scoped public life
- Provability
- Same privacy principles for all members — rules may differ by identity type; principles do not
Lifecycle
Collect responsibly → Protect responsibly → Verify honestly → Reveal appropriately → Trust
Also: Collect → Protect → Assert → Reveal → Trust
