Account, Identity & Data Lifecycle Policy
For ordinary members. Not legal advice.
A person has a private Account. The Digital You is the identity architecture that connects the person, through that private Account, to the person’s public Identities. It is not a synonym for the Account, the login, or a public profile. Public Identities are how a presence appears. Content and history are separate from the person, the Account, the Digital You, and those Identities.
Registration creates one private Account and one Personal Identity. That Personal Identity is the only identity created automatically. It can be active for the owner to build and preview, and it is not publicly activated by registration. Confirming email is not public activation. Professional and every other identity type are not created at registration.
Trial follows see, try, build, preview, decide, then activate. Seven days is the maximum, not a required wait. During trial the person can use account security, edit the Personal Identity, and preview it while signed in. The Personal Identity is not public. No other identity is created. Public publishing is not available. Material that is not publicly activated is not intentionally exposed for outside indexing. Paid activation is not implemented. The approved rule, when that path exists, is that payment continues the same Account and the same Personal Identity.
When a never-activated trial is abandoned and its cleanup is performed, that ending is not Delete Account and not Former Member. The abandoned Account, the unactivated Personal Identity, and trial data are removed, except for a narrow retention question that is still open for legal, accounting, payment, fraud, security, or preservation records. The 30-day tombstone does not apply. A later return is a new registration. Reaching day seven does not by itself run that cleanup. A Cancel Trial screen is not implemented. An automatic expiry job is not implemented. The cleanup operation exists in the backend and is not a member button.
The approved paid-membership model is $12 for 365 days. Paid activation and renewal are not yet implemented. Expiry does not delete the Account, the Personal or Professional identity, or history. The public word for an expired membership is Inactive. Renewal continues the same Account and the same history.
Paused is a voluntary temporary stop. Frozen is a voluntary indefinite hold. Neither is Inactive, Delete, Former Member, or abandoned-trial cleanup.
Mature Delete Account ends the private relationship. It does not erase every public historical fact. The person has a 30-day recovery period before finalization. After finalization, private account data is removed where no approved retention reason exists. The Account is finalized into a non-login tombstone rather than remaining an active Account. Issued public numbers are not recycled. Personal and Professional stop being ordinary active profiles. A minimal historical identity can remain where attribution requires it. Published articles stay attributable. Public posts, comments, and reactions stay historical acts. An active offer or listing is not the same as a historical act. Where a public word is required, it is Former Member. Field-by-field retention is still open.
Identities fall into three classes. Class 1 is Personal and Professional, bound to the person. Class 2 is Business, Organization, Government, Association, Brand, and Project. Those are administered by an Account. They are not the Account. Ending the Account does not delete them. If another administrator remains, administration continues. If none remains, the approved state is No Active Administrator. Class 3 is Blog, Book, Podcast, and Video. They are not detached as Class 1. Preserving them is not permission to keep creating through them. Their full lifecycle is still open.
The system stores whether paid activation is known never to have happened, known to have happened at least once, or unknown for an older Account. Unknown is not never. Current plan, trial dates, email confirmation, and whether an identity is public are not that historical fact. Recording activation through a real payment is not implemented.
Death, Memorialize, transfer, claim, copyright, and the retention matrix are not closed here. System Purge is not the normal delete action.
Not live: paid activation, Cancel Trial, automatic trial expiry, complete Class 3 lifecycle, the retention matrix, and death or Memorialize handling.
